Performance Ready Music Edits
The services that we provide, range from simple clean edits of songs, to creating a performance soundtrack from scratch. A normal track ranges from 3-5 minutes in length but within that time many minor adjustments could be made.
The following are general breakdowns of the "ReFixing" process of tracks used for entertainment purposes. You may find a multiple of these processes to be used in one project when it comes to larger producions.
Keeping It Clean
When working with songs and genres such as Hip Hop, close attention to the lyrocs must be made as many people who do pay attention to lyrics can easily pick out words and lyrical content that have not been censored. Words that are not censored can serve as a problem.
A) Swear words and lyrical content is offensive and inappropriate to be heard in most venues.
B) If used in competition, it could deduct you marks or disqualify you.
The best thing to do is to ALWAYS keep it clean! There are many ways and techniques that we use to avoid swears from being heard whilst maintaining the quality of the song used. Virtually ANY song, whether it is heavy metal or "ganster rap", can be modified through our "ReFix" methods.
Remixing
'Remixing' is the art of taking an already popular song and transforming it into a new song while specific elements of the original song stay intact. This allows you to appreciate your favourite song that much more as you observe a unique take on the original. This 'Remix' process may involve the shuffling of the Intro, Chorus, Verse's, Bridge or Outro of a song. It could involve a different instrumental to the lyrics of a song or vice versa. Or it can be a different tempo all together! There are many variations to explore when creating a 'Remixed' version of a song as it is all to our discretion. As long as the integrity of the original song is evident in the 'Remix' then the task of the 'Remix' has been acquired.
Complex Cuts and Edits
A complex cut allows for more creative space as now the edits become more extreme and is open to the usage of various songs, sounds effects, voice over's, acapella's instruments etc. Which also means we are not limited to using just the primary song. With that being said, a lot of out-sourcing is involved to create an amplified soundtrack which will in turn assist the choreographer in the dance studio. Any extra kick or snare hit in a song causes for extra movement now unique to this soundtrack and specifically the performance, which ultimately creates dynamics to ones performance that was not seen prior to the alteration.
Special Order
In many events we are asked to create something never heard before and very unique. We will then have to start from scratch and create pieces of work specifically tailored to fit whatever performance or presentation using original sounds. There may be inserts from readily recognizable sounds such as movies, TV commercials, audio from certain songs, voice overs or even beats. But they have all been created from a foundation of nothingness all brought together through ideas of what was requested, to form a uniquely tailor made project, special order.
Our objective is to provide our clients with the appropriate catalyst to creating choreography that will inspire all who are privileged to see. We want to create the soundtrack to the movie you create in the dance studio and offer as much creative spark as possible.
All tracks will be sent out for review until a final edit is made and perfection achieved to the best of our ability. All levels will be adjusted so that it is studio ready! Most music, if it is just Cleaning music or Simple Cuts, will need to be sent to us via email.
